Among the forest’s treasures is the Mvule tree (Milicia excelsa), an ancient sacred tree estimated to be around 196 years old. During your guided walk through the forest, you’ll have the opportunity to observe blue monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and a variety of forest bird species and butterflies. Your guide will share fascinating stories about the forest’s unique trees, some of which are up to 200 years old. A highlight of the tour is the sacred Mvule tree (Milicia excelsa), estimated to be 196 years old. This revered tree is a spiritual site where locals come to pray for various needs.

Enjoy panoramic views of nearby rice plantations, where colorful water birds add to the picturesque landscape. Savor a refreshing coconut drink offered by local farmers and, weather permitting, catch a glimpse of the majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro in the distance.
After a delicious lunch prepared by local women, you are invited to participate in a meaningful tree-planting activity. By collecting seeds and planting a seedling in our tree nursery, you contribute to the conservation efforts of the Rau Forest.
